Scoop the Coop -- Raising Backyard Hens
Event box
Gwenne Baile, Chair of Haddon Township Hens and Camden County Chickens and Therapy Hens discusses the benefits of having backyard hens for composting, sustainability and permaculture.
Learn how hens help with insect control and provide wonderful fertilizer for the garden while significantly decreasing food waste in the trash. Learn why towns all over South Jersey are modifying old ordinances and allowing hens.
Put those hens to work in your yard and garden! Gwenne will bring her one or both of her therapy hens with her. Gwenne teaches the required class by many communities in order to have a license to keep chickens called “The Basics of Raising Backyard Chickens in the Suburbs” as well as a class to certify other handlers of therapy chickens. Gwenne and her hens are true Backyard Hen Ambassadors.
